The Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) released a report of their study into Reserve Capability on 19 November 2008. The report titled "Stepping Up - Part time Forces and ADF Capability" is authored by Dr Andrew Davies - Director of ASPI's Operations and Capability program and Dr Hugh Smith - Visiting Fellow at the Australian Defence Force Academy.
A presentation on the progress of the ASPI Study was given at the August 2008 National DRA Conference and attracted much interest and discussion.
